Current time in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a very big country. The longitude of its eastern border is 30° 00’ E. The longitude of its western border is close to 12° 00’ E. This means a time difference of over one hours between the sunrise in the east and the west of the country. It’s therefore not surprising that the Democratic Republic of the Congo uses two time zones, West Africa Time WAT and Central Africa Time CAT. WAT is UTC +0100 and CAT is UTC +0200. WAT is used in the western half of the country, including the capital, Kinshasa. CAT is used in the eastern half of the country. There is no daylight savings time in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Because the equator runs through the country there is no use for it.
